The Miss Rumphius Project

I just searched the Mary Prankster tag, and two of the first few posts were made by fellow SMCM alums. Way to go Seahawks? I don’t want to know what this says about our education. Was this our school song, or was it Wagon Wheel by Old Crow Medicine Show? Is it too close to call?

Kate Bornstein’s latest book, A Queer and Pleasant Danger, is out today.

I met Kate in… 2008?, when she spoke at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where I went for undergrad. She’s one of the most incredible people I’ve ever encountered. I hope you’ll let her inspire you, too.

This is her blog, by the way:

re: indie book stores in somd--there's a secondhand bookstore in leonardtown that's about 15 minutes away from campus. did you never get a chance to go? it was awesome! they even had live music on first fridays.

I stand corrected! (Things I don’t learn about until two years after finishing undergrad. Apparently there are awesome indie bookstores even in deepest-darkest-western-shore-southern-Maryland!)

That said, not all communities and areas are this lucky.
